10th Anniversary Celebrations

Much to a lot of people’s surprise The Norma and Miller Alloway Muskoka Lakes Library was officially opened on August 18, 2001…already ten years have passed since then! To help celebrate the momentous occasion the library, with the help of the Friends of Muskoka Lakes Public Library, have planned some special events to take place on the anniversary date. For the next month visitors to the library will be able to bid on some wonderful items in the Friends’ silent auction. Also for the next month, children, teens, adults, and family groups are invited to put their creative minds and hands to work to construct literary-themed Room-in-a-Box and LEGO creations to be displayed and judged on anniversary day.

Mark your calendars and plan to join in the festivities on August 18 that will take place throughout the day. The Minettones, a group of local singing talent, the Wahta Singing Birds, a Native singing and drumming group, the silent auction, the special displays and judging of Room in a Box and Lego creations, a model train display, BBQ hotdogs and sausages, Nola McConnan author/illustrator of ABC Muskoka for interactive book reading and signing,...all to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening. The official cake cutting ceremony and welcome to the next decade of The Norma and Miller Alloway Muskoka Lakes Library in Port Carling will take place at 11:00 where you might see some familiar faces from the past and present.
Drop in and join the celebrations that are happening all day and please do take the time to sign the Guest Book while you are here!
