We in Muskoka are luckier than most in that we also get to celebrate and savour the cranberry harvest. The Bala Cranberry Festival, which always takes place the weekend following Thanksgiving, features marsh tours, craft shows, street carnivals, entertainment, and of course, those wonderful cranberries. Cookbooks featuring Bala’s famous red berry, can be found on the library shelves in the Dewey decimal 641 section.
If you are looking for traditional recipes or are ready to leap into new ethnic culinary delights for this bountiful season, then check out the many resources available to you at the Muskoka Lakes Library. Young children can learn about the holiday along with some of their favourite book characters by exploring the seasonal books found in the children’s department and in the crafting section of the young adult area.
